EgM Services, INc.

This is the story of how a determined man launched a minority glass and glazing business and grew it into a lucrative company that remains successful today!

Humble beginnings

Arthur and his wife, Sandra, relocated to Atlanta in 1985. After seeking employment for several months, Arthur told his wife, “Either we have to move back to DC, or we will go in business for ourselves.” It was that defining moment that would forever change their lives and the lives of their future generations. On March 3, 1986, Arthur founded Ebony Glass & Mirror Company, Inc. (now known as EGM Services, Inc.). As a minority-owned company, Arthur faced several challenges, including sourcing materials locally in Atlanta. However, these setbacks did not stop him. He would drive his 1980 Grand Slam motor home back and forth from DC to purchase material to complete projects. He worked hard, operated with a huge heart of compassion, and always offered wisdom and grace as he disciplined and corrected those around him. Arthur’s dedication to customer satisfaction, his commitment to creating opportunities for minorities, and his willingness to provide second chances were among his awesome qualities as an entrepreneur.

EGM is one of the largest minority-owned glass companies in the Southeast and celebrated its 40th business anniversary on March 3rd.

Arthur was also instrumental in the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC), where he served as President for both the National and local Greater Atlanta Chapters. He was also honored with the title of National President Emeritus.
